12002792
Whirlpool Gas Range Spark Switch (12002792)

The Whirlpool Gas Range Spark Switch is the control component that sends an electrical signal to the igniter when you turn a burner knob, triggering the spark that lights the gas flame. It works by completing a circuit that activates the spark module, which then delivers high-voltage pulses to the igniter electrode at the burner. Without a functioning switch, the igniter cannot receive the signal it needs to produce a spark.

The Whirlpool Gas Range Spark Switch can fail from grease and food debris working into the switch mechanism, moisture exposure from boilovers, or simple wear from repeated use over time. Corrosion on the internal contacts or a broken switch body can interrupt the signal path and prevent one or more burners from igniting reliably.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if the spark switch is the cause of your range problem:

- Burner will not spark or ignite when the knob is turned

- Spark clicks continuously even after the burner is lit

- Only one burner fails to ignite while others work normally

- Igniter sparks weakly or inconsistently at one burner

- Visible cracks, burn marks, or damage on the switch body

- Burner requires multiple attempts before it will light

- Range sparks on its own without the knob being turned

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0569/6189/2437/files/whirlpool-gas-range-spark-switch-12002792.jpg?v=1792206257
