It draws air across the coils where heat is removed and then pushes that cooled air through the vents, keeping food fresh and the freezer properly frozen.

The Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor can wear out over time due to bearing failure, ice buildup around the motor, electrical issues, or simply years of continuous use. When the motor weakens or stops, airflow is reduced or lost entirely, which causes the refrigerator to struggle to hold temperature even when the compressor is still running.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if the evaporator fan motor needs to be replaced:

- Refrigerator or freezer not staying cold enough

- Unusual buzzing, squealing, or grinding noise coming from the back of the freezer

- Fan blade visible but not spinning when the freezer door is open

- Frost buildup on evaporator coils due to poor airflow

- Refrigerator section warm while freezer remains cool

- Motor runs loudly then stops intermittently

- Increased energy use or compressor running constantly without reaching set temperature

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0569/6189/2437/files/whirlpool-refrigerator-evaporator-fan-motor-wp12013209q.jpg?v=1793398830
