The built-in thermistor continuously monitors the temperature inside the freezer and sends readings to the control board so the refrigerator can regulate cooling cycles accurately.

The GE Freezer Evaporator Cover with Thermistor can fail when the plastic cover cracks or warps from repeated freeze and thaw cycles, blocking proper airflow across the coils. The thermistor portion can also degrade over time or fail outright, sending inaccurate temperature readings that cause the refrigerator to run too long, too short, or not at all.

These symptoms can help you determine if this part may need to be replaced:

- Freezer is not maintaining the correct temperature

- Food in the freezer is partially thawed or developing freezer burn faster than normal

- Refrigerator runs constantly or cycles on and off too frequently

- Visible cracks, warping, or damage to the freezer back panel cover

- Frost or ice buildup on the evaporator coils or behind the cover

- Error codes on the control panel related to temperature sensing

- Uneven cooling or warm spots inside the freezer compartment

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0569/6189/2437/files/ge-freezer-evaporator-cover-with-thermistor-wr14x32098.jpg?v=1792200704
