wr87x36102
GE Freezer Evaporator with Heater (WR87X36102)

The GE Freezer Evaporator with Heater is the component inside your refrigerator's freezer compartment that absorbs heat from the air to keep food frozen, working as part of the sealed cooling system. Refrigerant flows through the evaporator coils to pull warmth out of the freezer, and the integrated heater runs periodically during the defrost cycle to melt any frost that builds up on the coils. Together, these functions keep airflow clear and maintain consistent freezing temperatures.

The GE Freezer Evaporator with Heater can fail when the defrost heater burns out, the coils develop a refrigerant leak, or the unit becomes so heavily iced over that it can no longer function effectively. Corrosion, age-related wear, or a faulty defrost system that allows frost to accumulate unchecked can all shorten the life of this part and lead to cooling problems throughout the refrigerator.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if this part needs to be replaced:

- Freezer is not maintaining the correct temperature or food is thawing

- Thick frost or ice buildup covering the back wall of the freezer compartment

- Refrigerator section is warmer than normal despite the freezer running

- Unusual humming, buzzing, or clicking sounds coming from the freezer

- Water pooling inside the refrigerator or leaking onto the floor

- Defrost cycle does not appear to be clearing frost from the coils

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0569/6189/2437/files/ge-freezer-evaporator-with-heater-wr87x36102.jpg?v=1792200754
