The Whirlpool Dryer Timer controls the length of the drying cycle and directs power to different dryer functions as the cycle advances. It moves the dryer through timed dry and automatic cycle segments by switching internal contacts that route power to the heater circuit, motor circuit, and end-of-cycle signals based on the knob setting.
Common failures happen when the timer motor wears out and can no longer advance the dial, or when internal electrical contacts become pitted, burned, or stuck from normal heat and current load over time. A damaged timer shaft, loose internal connections, or moisture and lint intrusion can also lead to inconsistent switching and cycle control problems.
If your dryer shows any of the following symptoms, the timer may be the part that addresses the issue:
- Cycle does not advance and the dial stays in the same position
- Dryer runs but shuts off too early or runs longer than the selected time
- Dryer will not start in certain timer positions but works in others
- Heat comes on in the wrong part of the cycle or is inconsistent between similar settings
- End-of-cycle signal does not work when it should, or sounds at the wrong time
- Timer knob is difficult to turn, slips, or does not match the selected setting

- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
- Shipping is non-refundable.
- Items returned without approval won’t be accepted.
