The Whirlpool Fan Motor circulates air inside the appliance to move heat away from key components and keep temperatures stable. It drives the fan blade at a steady speed so air flows through vents and across coils, helping the unit cool and run within normal operating ranges.
Failure often comes from worn motor bearings, heat stress, moisture intrusion, or debris that strains the shaft and windings. Electrical issues like a weak start circuit or damaged wiring can also stop the motor or cause it to run at the wrong speed.
Use these symptoms to judge whether the fan motor is the source of the problem:
- The fan does not run even though the appliance has power.

- The fan runs intermittently or changes speed without a setting change.
- Poor airflow from vents or uneven cooling across compartments.

- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
