The Whirlpool Washer Dual Action Agitator fits into the center of the wash tub and uses two-part motion to move clothes through the water during the wash cycle. The lower portion rotates in one direction while the upper auger flexes and turns to pull clothes down and circulate them for thorough cleaning. This part replaces earlier Whirlpool part numbers WP3951744 and 3951744.

The Whirlpool Washer Dual Action Agitator can wear out over time from repeated use, broken agitator dogs, cracked auger fins, or a stripped connection to the drive shaft. Exposure to heavy loads, off-balance cycles, or foreign objects caught in the agitator can accelerate damage and reduce its ability to move clothes effectively.
