The LG Refrigerator Ice Maker is the self-contained unit inside your freezer compartment that produces, harvests, and stores ice for everyday use. It works by filling a mold with water, freezing it, then using a heating element and ejector arm to release the cubes into the ice bin below. This model is designed to fit the 26.1 Cu. Ft. Side by Side Refrigerator with Door-in-Door.
The LG Refrigerator Ice Maker can stop working properly due to a failed heating element, worn ejector motor, cracked mold, or a faulty thermostat that prevents the unit from sensing when ice is ready to harvest. Water inlet issues, freezer temperature fluctuations, or simply years of regular use can also degrade internal components until the assembly no longer cycles correctly.
These symptoms can help you decide if the ice maker matches your problem:
- Refrigerator produces little or no ice
- Ice maker stops mid-cycle and does not complete a harvest
- Ice cubes are misshapen, hollow, or partially formed
- Ice clumps together or jams in the mold
- Unusual clicking, grinding, or humming coming from the freezer compartment
- Water leaks inside the freezer near the ice maker assembly

- Returns are accepted within 60 days if the part is unused, in original packaging, and over $15 in value.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
- Shipping is non-refundable.
- Items returned without approval won’t be accepted.
