The LG Gas Dryer Valve Assembly controls the flow of natural or LP gas to the burner and opens and closes as the dryer calls for heat. It works with the igniter and flame sensor to allow ignition, maintain a steady flame, and stop gas flow when heat is not needed.
This assembly can fail from worn valve coils, internal valve sticking, electrical connection damage, heat stress, or debris that restricts gas movement. Over time, it may open only when cold, stop opening once warm, or fail to open at all. A failing assembly can also cause weak or unstable heat that leaves loads damp.
Symptoms that may point to this part include:
- Dryer runs but does not heat
- Igniter glows but the burner does not light
- Burner lights once, then stops heating and will not relight until the dryer cools
- Heat starts and stops during a cycle with long dry times
- Clothes remain damp even though the cycle completes
