The LG Fridge Compressor pumps refrigerant through the sealed cooling system. It compresses low-pressure vapor into high-pressure gas, then circulates it so heat can be released at the condenser and cooling can occur at the evaporator. When this part does not run or cannot maintain pressure, the refrigerator may not cool or may cool unevenly.
Compressor problems can start from normal wear, overheating, or electrical stress. A failed start device or capacitor can also keep a working compressor from starting, while low voltage, dirty condenser coils, or poor airflow can make the compressor run hot and shorten its life. Internal mechanical damage, winding failure, or a sealed-system restriction can cause hard starting, loud operation, or loss of cooling.
These symptoms can help you decide if the compressor may be the source of the issue:
- Refrigerator and freezer are warm, or temperatures keep rising
- Compressor will not start, or it clicks on and off repeatedly
- Compressor runs constantly with little or no cooling
- Unusual humming, buzzing, rattling, or knocking from the compressor area
- Condenser fan runs but the compressor is silent or very hot to the touch
- Breaker trips or burning smell occurs near the compressor compartment

- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
