The Whirlpool Appliance Light Bulb provides light inside the appliance so you can see shelves, drawers, and contents when the door is open. It fits into the interior light socket and turns on when the door switch signals power to the lamp circuit.
This bulb can fail from normal filament wear after many on/off cycles. It can also fail early if it is exposed to vibration, frequent slamming of the door, or moisture from spills and condensation that reaches the socket area.
Look for these symptoms to help decide if replacing the light bulb may correct the issue:
- The interior light does not turn on when the door is opened, but the appliance otherwise runs.
- The interior light flickers, dims, or cuts in and out when the door moves.
- The light turns on only after tapping the cover or adjusting the bulb, then goes out again.
- The bulb appears darkened inside the glass or the filament looks broken.

- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
