Whirlpool Washer Drive Belt (W10808317)

The drive belt wraps around the motor and tub pulley to transfer power from the motor to spin the wash tub during the cycle. In a high-efficiency top load washer, the belt works with the drive system to control both the wash motion and the spin, keeping clothes moving through the water and wringing out moisture at the end of the cycle.

Belts wear down over time from the constant friction and tension of regular use, and can crack, fray, or stretch out of shape as the rubber ages. Heat buildup, overloading the washer with heavy items, or running the machine with a failing pulley or motor can all accelerate belt wear and cause it to slip or break entirely.

If your top load washer is showing any of these signs, a worn or broken belt may be the cause:

- Washer fills with water but the tub does not agitate or spin

- Burning rubber smell during or after a wash cycle

- Squealing or squeaking noise when the washer starts or runs

- Tub spins slowly or struggles to reach full spin speed

- Clothes come out soaking wet after the spin cycle

- Washer stops mid-cycle without completing the spin

- Visible belt debris or rubber residue inside the machine cabinet
