The Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Seal lines the dishwasher door opening to create a water-tight barrier when the door closes. It helps keep wash water, spray, and steam inside the tub during filling, washing, and draining. It also cushions the door against the tub edge so the latch can hold the door closed without gaps.
Common causes of failure include normal wear, hardening, cracking, tearing, or sections that become flattened over time. The seal can also pull out of its channel, warp from heat, or collect food residue and detergent buildup that prevents full contact with the door. Misalignment from repeated door slamming or an obstructed rack can also deform the sealing surface.
Use these symptoms to decide if the Whirlpool Dishwasher Door Seal is the source of the problem:
- Water leaking from the front or corners of the dishwasher during a cycle
