The Whirlpool Fridge Fan circulates cold air through the refrigerator and freezer compartments. It moves air across the evaporator area and helps keep temperatures steady from shelf to shelf. It also supports defrost recovery by pushing cooled air back into the cabinet after a defrost cycle.

Fan issues can start from wear in the motor bearings, a damaged fan blade, or a fan that gets blocked by ice or debris. Power and control problems can also stop the fan, such as a loose wire connection or a failed control signal. Over time, a weak fan may still spin but move less air, which can lead to uneven cooling.

These symptoms can help you decide if this fan is the source of the problem:

    Refrigerator is warm but the freezer is colder than normal, or cooling is uneven between compartments

    Freezer has frost buildup and airflow feels weak at vents

    Unusual noises from the freezer area, such as squealing, grinding, or rattling
