The Whirlpool Refrigerator Fan circulates air across the evaporator and through the freezer and fresh food sections. It helps move cold air where it is needed so temperatures stay even and frost does not build up as quickly on the evaporator.
This fan can fail from normal motor wear, moisture intrusion, or ice buildup that jams the blade. A loose connector, damaged wiring, or a worn fan motor can also stop the fan or make it run slow or noisy.
If you are troubleshooting airflow or cooling issues, these symptoms can point to a problem with this fan:
- Freezer or refrigerator section is warm even though the compressor is running
- Weak or no airflow from vents
- Frost or ice buildup on the evaporator cover or back wall of the freezer
- Fan noise such as rattling, grinding, or squealing from the freezer area
- Intermittent cooling that improves after defrosting or power cycling
- Refrigerator runs longer than normal to maintain temperature

- Returns are accepted within 60 days if the part is unused, in original packaging, and over $15 in value.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to eligible returns.
- Shipping is non-refundable.
- Items returned without approval won’t be accepted.
