The Whirlpool Control Panel houses the user interface for selecting cycles, setting options, and starting or stopping the appliance. It sends input commands to the control system and displays status information such as time, cycle progress, and selected settings.

Control panels can fail from normal wear on touch areas, moisture intrusion, heat exposure, or electrical surges. A loose or damaged connection can also prevent the panel from communicating with the control system.
