Whirlpool Washer Double Water Valve Assembly (W11316256)

The water valve assembly controls the flow of hot and cold water into the laundry center during the fill cycle. It uses electrically operated solenoids to open and close the valve ports, allowing the right amount of water to enter the machine based on the selected wash settings. When the cycle calls for water, the control board sends a signal to the valve, which opens to fill the tub to the correct level.

Double water valves can fail when the solenoid coils burn out, the internal diaphragms crack or warp, or mineral deposits from hard water clog the inlet screens and ports. Age, water pressure fluctuations, and debris in the water supply can also cause the valve to stick open or closed, preventing proper fills.

These symptoms may point to a water valve issue in your laundry center:

- Washer does not fill with water at the start of a cycle

- Only hot or only cold water enters the tub regardless of temperature setting

- Machine fills too slowly or takes much longer than normal to reach the right water level

- Water continues to trickle into the tub when the washer is off or between cycles

- Washer stops mid-cycle due to a fill error or low water detection

- Unusual humming or buzzing sound near the back of the unit during fill

- Visible leaking from the valve body or water inlet connection
