The Whirlpool Gearcase Service Kit replaces the washer gearcase that drives the agitator or wash plate and controls the tub’s movement during the wash cycle. It transfers motor power into the back-and-forth or wash action and supports smooth operation at the center of the drive system.

Gearcases can fail from normal wear on internal gears and bearings, loss of lubricant, moisture intrusion, or damage after running with an unbalanced load. Over time, this can lead to excess friction, noise, leaks from the gearcase area, or poor wash performance when the drive can no longer move the tub and agitator as designed.
