The GE Gas Valve Knob is the control you turn to open and close the gas valve on your range burner, letting you set the flame from high heat down to a low simmer. It fits onto the valve stem on the front panel of your GE gas range or dual fuel range and gives you direct, physical control over gas flow to each burner.
The GE Gas Valve Knob can crack, break, or become loose over time from repeated turning, heat exposure, or accidental impacts. The inner collar that grips the valve stem can wear down or strip out, making it hard to turn the burner on or off accurately and safely.
Watch for these symptoms to know if this knob needs to be replaced:
- Knob spins freely without engaging the valve stem
- Burner will not light or gas does not flow when the knob is turned
- Knob feels loose, wobbles, or falls off the stem
- Visible cracks, chips, or breaks in the knob body
- Difficulty turning the knob to the correct setting
- Burner stays on or cannot be turned off reliably
- Markings on the knob are worn away, making settings hard to read
