The GE Range Burner Knob is the control you turn to ignite and adjust the flame on your gas range or dual fuel range burner. It connects to the valve stem on the front panel and allows you to select heat levels from low simmer to high, giving you direct control over your cooktop output.
GE range burner knobs commonly wear out from repeated daily use, exposure to heat, grease buildup, or accidental impact. The inner D-shaped insert can crack or strip over time, causing the knob to spin loosely without engaging the valve, or the outer surface may become brittle and break away from the base.
Look for these symptoms to help determine if the burner knob needs to be replaced:
- Knob spins freely without turning the burner on or off
- Knob feels loose or wobbles on the valve stem
- Burner will not ignite or cannot be adjusted
- Visible cracks, chips, or breaks in the knob body
- Knob is difficult to push in or turn smoothly
- Markings or labels on the knob are worn away and unreadable
