GE Oven Igniter (WB13K21)

The GE Oven Igniter is the component responsible for lighting the gas burner in your oven, allowing it to reach and hold the temperature you set. It works by drawing electrical current until it gets hot enough to open the gas valve and ignite the burner, cycling on and off as needed to maintain heat throughout cooking.

GE oven igniters weaken over time as the heating element degrades from repeated use, eventually drawing too little current to fully open the gas valve or produce a reliable spark. Exposure to grease, moisture, and the constant heat cycles inside a gas range or dual fuel oven can accelerate this wear and lead to ignition failure.

If you notice any of these symptoms in your oven, a worn igniter may be the cause:

- Oven takes a long time to preheat or never reaches the set temperature

- Burner fails to light even though you can smell gas

- Oven igniter glows but the burner does not ignite

- Oven shuts off unexpectedly during cooking

- Weak or uneven flame at the oven burner

- Oven will not light at all when bake or broil is selected
