The GE Range Igniter Glowbar is the part that lights the gas burner in your range's oven by heating up to a high temperature, which opens the gas valve and allows the oven to ignite. It works by drawing electrical current until it glows bright enough to trigger the safety valve, releasing gas that then ignites from the glowbar's heat.

The GE Range Igniter Glowbar commonly fails when the element weakens over time and can no longer reach the temperature needed to open the gas valve, even if it still glows faintly.
