GE Range Receptacle (WB17X5113)

The GE Range Receptacle is the electrical connection point that links a surface burner element to the range's wiring, allowing power to flow to the burner when the control knob is turned on. It sits inside the cooktop and holds the burner element terminals in place, making and breaking the electrical circuit each time a burner is used.

The GE range receptacle can wear out over time from repeated heating and cooling cycles, arcing caused by loose element connections, or corrosion that degrades the metal terminals. Physical damage from a burner element that has shorted out or burned up can also destroy the receptacle, leaving it unable to deliver consistent power to that burner position.

Watch for these symptoms to help determine if the receptacle on your electric range needs to be replaced:

- Surface burner does not heat at all on one position

- Burner heats weakly or only works at certain settings

- Visible burn marks, melting, or charring around the burner socket

- Sparking or arcing where the burner element meets the receptacle

- Burning smell coming from beneath the cooktop surface

- Burner element appears loose or does not seat securely

- Tripped breaker or blown fuse linked to one burner circuit
