GE Surface Element Control (WB23K10002)

The GE Surface Element Control regulates the power delivered to the surface heating elements on your electric range, allowing you to adjust heat from low to high by controlling the electrical current sent to each burner. It works by responding to the position of the knob or switch and signaling the element to cycle on and off to maintain the selected temperature.

The GE Surface Element Control can fail over time due to heat exposure, electrical arcing, worn internal contacts, or repeated use that degrades the switching components inside. A damaged control may no longer regulate current properly, leaving you with a burner that stays on at full power, won't heat at all, or can't hold a consistent temperature setting.

Watch for these symptoms to help determine if the surface element control needs to be replaced:

- Burner stays on high regardless of the knob setting

- Surface element does not heat up at any setting

- Element only works at certain heat levels and not others

- Burner cycles on and off erratically or inconsistently

- Burn marks, scorch signs, or a burning smell near the control switch

- Knob turns freely but has no effect on the burner output

- Range trips a breaker or shows signs of electrical issues at one burner
