The GE Infinite Control Switch regulates the power delivered to a surface burner element on an electric range, allowing you to set and hold any heat level between low and high. It works by cycling the burner element on and off in precise intervals, giving you smooth, continuous temperature control rather than just a few fixed settings.

The GE Infinite Control Switch can wear out over time from repeated use, heat exposure, or electrical arcing at the contacts inside the switch. When the internal components degrade, the switch loses its ability to accurately cycle power, leaving you with a burner that runs at the wrong temperature or stops responding to the dial altogether.
