The GE Microwave Door Interlock Switch is a safety component that monitors whether the microwave door is fully closed before allowing the unit to operate. It works by completing or interrupting an electrical circuit when the door latch engages, preventing the magnetron and other components from activating unless the door is securely shut. This switch is compatible with GE microwave and Advantium models.

GE microwave door interlock switches commonly fail from repeated opening and closing of the door, which wears down the switch contacts over time. Heat exposure, electrical surges, or a misaligned door latch can also cause the switch to stick, arc, or stop making proper contact, triggering a blown fuse or preventing the microwave from starting.
