GE Microwave Magnetron (WB27X10089)

The GE Microwave Magnetron is the core heating component that generates the microwave energy used to cook and heat food. It converts electrical power into microwave radiation, which is directed into the cooking cavity to excite water molecules in food and produce heat. Without a functioning magnetron, your GE microwave or Advantium oven cannot produce any heat at all.

A GE microwave magnetron can fail from age, power surges, overheating due to blocked ventilation, or running the microwave empty. Internal components like the filament or antenna can burn out over time, and arcing inside the cavity can also damage the magnetron beyond normal use.

Watch for these symptoms to help determine if the magnetron is the cause of your microwave problem:

- Microwave runs but does not heat food at all

- Food takes much longer than normal to heat or cook

- Loud buzzing or humming noise during operation
