The GE Microwave Magnetron is the core component responsible for generating the microwave energy that heats and cooks your food. It works by converting electrical energy into high-frequency microwave radiation, which is directed into the oven cavity to heat food from the inside out. Without a functioning magnetron, your GE microwave or Advantium oven cannot produce any heat at all.

A GE microwave magnetron can fail due to age, repeated power surges, running the microwave empty, or internal arcing caused by metal objects or food buildup near the waveguide.
