The GE 8-Inch Surface Unit is the coil heating element that sits on top of your electric range and provides direct heat for cooking. It plugs into a receptacle on the cooktop and generates heat by passing electrical current through a resistive coil, allowing you to boil, fry, or simmer at your desired temperature setting.
