The GE 6-Inch Radiant Element is a surface heating component in your electric range that generates heat by passing electricity through a coiled resistive element sealed beneath a smooth glass-ceramic cooktop. When you select a burner setting, the element heats up and radiates warmth directly through the cooktop surface to heat your cookware. It is designed to provide consistent, responsive heat across the full 6-inch cooking zone.

The GE 6-Inch Radiant Element can fail over time due to normal wear, power surges, overheating from boilovers, or physical damage to the glass cooktop above it. Internal breaks in the heating coil or damaged connection terminals can cause the element to stop heating, heat unevenly, or cycle on and off unpredictably.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if this element needs to be replaced:
