The GE Range Burner Grate sits on top of the cooktop surface and supports pots, pans, and cookware directly over the gas burners during cooking. It holds cookware at a consistent height above the flame, allowing for even heat distribution and stable support while you cook on your gas range or dual fuel range.
GE range burner grates can wear down over time from repeated exposure to high heat, heavy cookware, spills, and daily use. The cast iron or coated metal can crack, chip, or warp, and the feet or contact points may wear unevenly, causing the grate to rock or sit unstably on the cooktop surface.
These symptoms can help you decide if a worn or damaged burner grate is your problem:
- Grate rocks or wobbles when a pot or pan is placed on it
- Visible cracks, chips, or breaks in the grate body
- Coating is flaking or peeling off onto the cooktop or cookware
- Grate no longer sits flat or level over the burner
- Rust or heavy corrosion that cannot be cleaned off
- Cookware slides or tips during cooking due to an uneven surface
