GE Dishwasher User Interface Board (WD21X31904)

The GE Dishwasher User Interface Board controls the touchpad or button inputs on the dishwasher door and sends commands to the main control to start, stop, and change cycles. It also manages indicator lights and, on some models, the display. If the interface cannot read inputs or communicate with the control, the dishwasher may not respond or may not show normal status.

Failure can happen after moisture gets into the door area, from corrosion on the board, or from heat and age-related wear. Power surges and loose or damaged wiring at the door can also cause the board to act erratically or stop working. In some cases the board works at first, then fails as it warms up or after repeated door movement stresses the connections.

Common symptoms that can point to a problem with the user interface board include:

• Buttons do not respond, or only some buttons work
• Cycle will not start even though the door is closed and latched
• Display is blank, dim, or flickers
• Indicator lights do not turn on, stay on, or flash in an unusual pattern
• Settings change on their own or inputs register the wrong selections
• Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and will not accept new commands
