The GE Dishwasher Vent Fan circulates air through the dishwasher's drying system to help remove moisture and steam from the tub at the end of the wash cycle. It works by drawing warm, damp air through a vent assembly so dishes dry more evenly and efficiently without leaving excess water inside the tub.

The GE Dishwasher Vent Fan can fail from prolonged exposure to heat and steam, worn motor bearings, or buildup of debris around the fan blades that causes it to seize or run poorly. Electrical issues such as a failed motor winding or a broken connection to the control board can also prevent the fan from operating, leaving moisture trapped inside after the cycle ends.

These symptoms may indicate the vent fan needs to be replaced:

- Dishes are consistently wet or have standing water droplets after the dry cycle

- Unusual buzzing, rattling, or grinding noise coming from the vent area during drying

- Fan does not run at all during the drying portion of the cycle

- Visible moisture or condensation remains on the interior walls after the cycle

- Musty or stale odor inside the dishwasher from trapped humid air

- Fan blade is cracked, warped, or visibly damaged when inspected
