The GE Dishwasher Spray Arm Mechanism is the assembly that distributes water throughout the dishwasher tub during the wash and rinse cycles. It works by spinning under water pressure, directing jets of water across the dishes on the racks above and below to wash away food and debris.

The GE dishwasher spray arm mechanism can wear out or fail due to mineral buildup from hard water, food particle clogs in the spray holes, cracks from heat exposure, or damage caused by items falling from the racks and blocking rotation. When the arm cannot spin freely or deliver a full spray pattern, cleaning performance drops noticeably and dishes may come out dirty or with residue.
