The GE Dryer Timer controls the length and sequence of each drying cycle by advancing through timed stages that regulate heat and tumbling. It sends signals to the heating element or gas burner, motor, and other components to start, run, and stop at the right moments so your clothes dry properly.

A GE dryer timer can fail from normal electrical wear, burned contacts inside the timer housing, or damage caused by power surges over time. When the internal contacts wear out or stop advancing, the timer can no longer move through the cycle correctly, leaving the dryer stuck, running too long, or failing to start heat altogether.
