GE Dryer Dual Coil (WE4X692)

The GE Dryer Dual Coil is an electrical component inside a gas dryer that controls the flow of gas to the burner by operating the gas valve. When the dryer calls for heat, the dual coil energizes to open the valve and allow gas to flow through for ignition, then de-energizes to close it once the set temperature is reached.

GE dryer dual coils commonly fail after years of repeated heating and cooling cycles, which can cause the internal wire windings to weaken or break. Coil failure can also result from voltage spikes, moisture exposure, or simply normal wear that prevents the coil from holding the gas valve open long enough to sustain a flame.

Look for these symptoms to determine if the dual coil may need to be replaced in your gas dryer:

- Dryer runs but produces no heat

- Burner ignites briefly then shuts off repeatedly during the cycle

- Clothes are damp or take multiple cycles to dry fully

- Dryer heats intermittently or only on certain heat settings

- Igniter glows but gas does not ignite consistently

- Burning or unusual smell coming from the dryer during operation
