GE Washer Drain Pump (WH11X28637)

The GE Washer Drain Pump removes water from the wash tub at the end of the wash and rinse cycles by pulling water out and pushing it through the drain hose. It is motor-driven and activates automatically during the drain portion of each cycle to keep water moving out of the machine efficiently.

A GE washer drain pump can fail due to worn impeller blades, a burned-out pump motor, or debris such as coins, lint, or fabric blocking the pump housing. Prolonged exposure to hard water minerals or running the washer with a restricted drain hose can also accelerate wear and lead to pump failure over time.

These symptoms may indicate your drain pump needs to be replaced:

- Washer will not drain or leaves standing water in the tub after a cycle

- Draining is slow or the cycle takes much longer than normal to complete

- Loud humming, grinding, or rattling noise during the drain portion of the cycle

- Washer stops mid-cycle and displays a drain error code

- Water leaking from underneath the washer near the pump area

- Washer drum smells musty due to water not fully draining after each use
