The GE Washer Timer controls the sequence and timing of each cycle in your washing machine, signaling when to fill, agitate, drain, and spin. It works by advancing through preset positions that send electrical signals to the motor, water valve, and other components to keep the wash cycle running in the correct order.

A GE washer timer can wear out over time as the internal contacts and cam mechanisms degrade from repeated use. Exposure to heat, moisture, and electrical surges can also cause the timer to stick, skip, or fail to advance, leaving the washer stuck in one part of the cycle or unable to start at all.

These symptoms may point to a faulty timer in your washer:
