The GE Washer Timer controls the sequence and duration of each cycle in your washing machine, sending signals to components like the motor, water valve, and pump to start and stop at the right times. It works by advancing through programmed steps as you turn the cycle selector dial, coordinating fill, wash, rinse, and spin stages from start to finish.

A GE washer timer can fail due to worn internal contacts, electrical shorts, or normal mechanical wear over years of use. Water exposure, power surges, or a timer motor that stops advancing can also cause the timer to stick, skip, or stop responding to the dial entirely.
