GE Washer Drain Pump (WH23X27419)

The GE Washer Drain Pump removes water from the washer tub at the end of the wash and rinse cycles by pulling water through the drain hose and out of the machine. It is driven by a motor that spins an impeller, creating suction that moves water efficiently so the tub can empty before the spin cycle begins.

The GE Washer Drain Pump can fail due to normal wear on the motor or impeller, damage from foreign objects like coins or debris that enter the pump, or buildup of lint and residue that restricts water flow. Electrical faults or a seized impeller can also cause the pump to stop working, leaving water standing in the tub after a cycle.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if the drain pump needs to be replaced:

- Washer will not drain or leaves standing water in the tub after the cycle

- Draining is slow or incomplete before the spin cycle starts

- Loud humming, rattling, or grinding noise during the drain portion of the cycle

- Washer stops mid-cycle and displays a drain error code

- Water leaking from the pump area or underneath the washer

- Spin cycle is weak or skipped because the tub did not drain properly
