GE Washer Agitator (WH43X10056)

The GE Washer Agitator is the central post inside the wash tub that moves clothes through the water during a wash cycle. It rotates back and forth to create the scrubbing motion that loosens dirt and detergent from fabrics, making it one of the most important mechanical parts in the washer.

A GE washer agitator can wear out over time due to cracked plastic, broken drive components, or a stripped connection to the drive shaft beneath it. Heavy loads, overloading the machine, or washing bulky items can accelerate wear and cause the agitator to lose its grip or stop moving altogether.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if the agitator needs to be replaced:

- Agitator does not move or rotates freely in only one direction

- Clothes come out dirty or poorly washed after a full cycle

- Loud clunking or clicking noise during the wash cycle
