Whirlpool Stove Burner Switch (WP3149404)

The Whirlpool Stove Burner Switch controls power to a surface burner by routing electricity to the heating element and adjusting heat level as you turn the knob. It also supports the burner indicator light circuit on many ranges so the cooktop can signal when a burner is on.

This switch can fail from heat exposure, arcing at internal contacts, or wear from frequent knob rotation. Loose terminals, burned connectors, or melted housings can also cause poor electrical contact, which leads to intermittent operation or heat that will not regulate.

If your burner is not behaving as expected, these symptoms can help you decide whether this switch is the cause:
