The Whirlpool Dryer Heater warms the air that moves through the drum to dry clothes. The heater turns electrical power into heat and cycles on and off with the dryer’s temperature controls to maintain the selected drying temperature.
Common causes of failure include the heating element coil breaking from age and repeated heat cycles, reduced airflow that leads to overheating, and electrical damage from loose connections. A heater can also fail after operating with a clogged vent or lint buildup, which raises temperatures and stresses the element.
