Whirlpool Bake Element (WPW10310274)

The Whirlpool Bake Element is the lower heating component in your slide-in electric range that generates the heat needed for baking and roasting. It receives electrical current and converts it into radiant heat, warming the oven cavity from the bottom up to reach and maintain your set temperature.

The Whirlpool Bake Element can fail from normal wear over time, hot spots caused by uneven current flow, grease buildup that causes scorching, or physical damage from items dropped inside the oven. A burned-out or broken element will prevent the oven from heating properly, leaving you with undercooked food or an oven that won't heat at all.

Look for these symptoms to help determine if the bake element needs to be replaced:

- Oven does not heat or takes much longer than usual to reach temperature

- Food is undercooked or bakes unevenly, especially on the bottom

- Visible burn marks, holes, or blisters on the surface of the element

- Element glows only partially or not at all when the oven is on

- Oven trips the breaker or blows a fuse when bake mode is selected

- Sparking or popping sounds coming from the bottom of the oven
