Whirlpool Door Seal (WPW10497235)

The Whirlpool Door Seal forms a watertight barrier between the door and the tub during operation. It keeps wash water inside the machine while allowing the door to close and latch with proper alignment. It also helps reduce vibration noise by cushioning the door opening.

Door seals often fail from wear and tear, repeated rubbing from an unbalanced load, or debris trapped along the sealing surface. Mold and residue buildup can harden the rubber over time and prevent a tight seal. Small cuts, tears, or a seal that has pulled out of its groove can lead to leaks and door-closing issues.

Use these symptoms to decide if the door seal is the source of the problem:

Water leaking from the front of the machine, especially during fill, wash, or spin

Visible cracks, tears, holes, or worn spots on the seal

The seal looks warped, loose, or pulled away from the tub opening

Water pooling at the bottom of the door opening or dripping from the door area

Musty odor or visible mold that returns soon after cleaning

Door does not close smoothly due to the seal folding, bunching, or catching
