The lint screen assembly sits in the lint trap housing of your dryer and catches fiber, dust, and debris released from clothes during the drying cycle. Air is pulled through the screen as the blower moves heat through the drum, and the screen traps lint before it can reach the exhaust duct and blower fan. Keeping this pathway clean and the screen intact is essential for safe and efficient dryer operation.
The screen mesh can tear, warp, or develop holes over time from regular cleaning, accidental bending, or years of use. A damaged or missing screen allows lint to bypass the filter and build up inside the duct system, which reduces airflow, increases drying time, and raises the risk of overheating. The frame can also crack or lose its seal against the housing, letting unfiltered air flow around the screen instead of through it.
